Campaigns your agent writes and you launch

A campaign is a short series of emails to a list of people, sent one at a time from your own mailboxes. A person's answer stops their follow-ups. Nothing goes out until someone allowed to send launches it.

For now we open each account by hand and answer by email. If your mail app doesn't open, write to us at [email protected].

What it does

Each email in the series is a step. The first step goes first. Each later step goes some days after the one before it, as a reply in the same thread or as a new email. You write the steps in the console, or your agent writes them through our API or MCP.

colding never writes an email. It sends the ones you approved, spread across the hours you pick.

Launching is the approval. Give your agent a key that can write but not send, and every campaign waits for you.

Example: the campaign's steps, and who approved them.

How it works

  1. Write the steps: a subject, a body and how many days to wait. Merge fields, such as the lead's first name and company, fill in for each person. If you open a merge field and don't close it, the step is refused when you save it, and the message names the line. A merge field a lead has no value for comes out blank, and so does a misspelled one. The step's preview names the blank fields for one lead.

  2. Add leads. A lead is a contact inside a campaign. Pick contacts, upload a CSV file or link a saved segment, a filter that adds new contacts as they match it.

  3. Choose the mailboxes to send from and the sending hours. Unless you change them, those are weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.

  4. Launch. A check lists what blocks the launch and what only needs a look, and it starts the address checks that the first emails wait on.

  5. Emails go out one at a time. Each mailbox keeps to its own daily limit and its own gap between two emails. A campaign with several mailboxes shares the day between them.

  6. Replies decide what happens next. When a person answers, their follow-ups stop. An away message holds them until the working day after they're back. Someone who asks to stop goes on your suppression list.

What you control

Who can launch
Launching needs the send permission. A key without it can write a whole campaign and never start it.
What needs approving again
On a running campaign, a change that slows it down or narrows it needs no new approval. A change that sends more, or to more people, needs someone with the send permission to approve it again.
Pause at any time
Pause a campaign or just one mailbox, in the console or through your agent. You can also pause a single lead.
The automatic pause
A campaign pauses itself when too many of its emails come back undelivered or get marked as spam. The limits are below. It tells you what to check before you resume it.
The list check
Before you launch and while it runs, we count the leads whose address we know is invalid. Past one limit we warn you. Past a higher one we refuse the launch and pause a running campaign. The limits are below.
Risky addresses
Addresses marked Risky, and ones we couldn't tell about, wait by default. Two switches, one for each, let a first email go to them.
The unsubscribe line
Each email can end with a line that lets the person leave: as plain text, as a link, or left out. Someone who unsubscribes goes on your suppression list, and your outreach won't email them again. Following the email laws of the places you send to is your job.
Opens and clicks
Off by default. Turn them on for a campaign, and they work only through a subdomain of your own that you point at colding and we verify. An open is never exact, because some mail apps load images for you.
Other wording for a step
Give a step up to 4 more versions of its words. Each lead gets one, and the results count each version apart. Nothing is called a winner until you pick one.
